Energy Centre Planning Application Submitted

18 June 2012

Origin Renewable Energy has submitted its planning application for an Energy Centre at Magnetic Park, Desborough, which will provide renewable heat and power to homes and businesses within the local area

Origin Renewable Energy is proposing to build a Combined Heat and Power plant, or Energy Centre, that will convert non-hazardous household and business waste into heat and power supplied to nearby businesses and homes, supporting local jobs and offering a cost-effective alternative to gas heating.

The proposed 96,000 tonne facility will use gasification developed by ENERGOS.

The planning application for the Energy Centre was submitted to Northamptonshire County Council at the end of May and has now been validated by the authority.

The Council will consult widely with statutory consultees such as the Environment Agency, Highways Authority, Kettering Borough Council and Desborough Town Council, and will also seek the views of local residents and other interested parties.

Desborough Town Council has also arranged for a copy to be placed in the library. The full planning application and further information regarding the proposal can also be found on the Origin website at www.originrenewableenergy.com.
