The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) and Emap today announced that they have signed an agreement to combine Futuresource and The Recycling and Waste Management exhibition, creating one new industry event from 2011.
The first combined event will take place at the NEC on 13-15 September 2011. Futuresource will not take place at ExCeL in June 2011 but all exhibitors will be invited to transfer their space to the new combined event and a transfer plan will be available in early January.
Futuresource organisers, CIWM and the Environmental Services Association, and RWM organiser, Emap, explained that the decision had been made in a response to market feedback. Customer views suggested that the UK recycling and waste management industry needs just one major exhibition.
"As the industry's professional body, CIWM's aim has always been to deliver a premier event for our sector and we believe we have reached an arrangement that will satisfy the needs of our customers and CIWM members. We plan to be very involved in the future of the joint exhibition and look forward to working with Emap to deliver a world class event," explained Steve Lee, CIWM chief executive.
Malcolm Gough, CEO of Emap Connect commented: "We are delighted to be joining forces with CIWM, the leading body that represents the professional interests of the waste and resource management sector. We have felt for a long time that the best solution for everyone would be a single show that effectively combines our skills and resources. We're very much looking forward to welcoming the entire industry to the NEC for what will be a fantastic 2011 event and working with the industry in the future to further develop the exhibition in line with market needs".
