Many Councils across the UK are providing extra services in an attempt to keep disruption caused by the Easter and Royal Wedding bank holidays to a minimal
Some UK Councils are rescheduling waste collections and introducing collections on Saturdays to ensure any extra waste is managed over the long weekends.
Numerous local authorities, including the London borough of Ealing, North Devon and Brighton city councils, have pushed collections back by a day to make room for the Bank Holidays.
Some collections routinely carried out on a Monday will take place on the Tuesday and so on with Friday collections taking place on Saturday.
Somerset Waste Partnership will also be carrying out collections on Sunday May 1 to ensure as minimal disruption as possible.
Cotswold district council has opted to postpone collections on the day of the Royal Wedding, with Friday collections shifted to the Saturday. The council intends to carry out collections as normal on May Day bank holiday.
Scott Williams, waste manager at the council, said: "We are hoping that most residents will understand that the only day affected by changes to collection arrangements is Friday April 29. Everything else is business as usual."
Others, such as Bromsgrove district council and Warrington borough council, however, have announced that collections will be unaffected and are set to take place on the day of the Royal Wedding as with any normal week.
