Biffa Expand Municipal Division

5 August 2011

The senior management team of Biffa's municipal division has been expanded as a result of new business success and a continuing tight focus on maintaining customer relationships

Municipal director Roger Edwards today announced the internal promotion of two managers who become regional directors and join the operating board, as well the appointment of a new finance director.

Formerly the regional manager responsible for eight of Biffa's municipal contracts, Dave Kenney, has been promoted to the new post of regional director south.

The post of regional director north has gone to Simon Crook, who has been the general manager overseeing Biffa's multi-million pound PFI contracts with Leicester City Council and the Isle of Wight.

In their respective roles, they will be responsible for the delivery of agreed contracts and related service standards, as well as the commercial expansion of municipal contracts in their regions.

Expansion

In a further management change, Ross Hickey has joined the division as finance director. The Australian was formerly finance director of Morrison Facilities Management, a position he had held for six years.

He replaces Chris Peal who is leaving Biffa to pursue other interests. Chris had been finance director with independent municipal contractor Verdant since 2001, taking on a similar role when Verdant was acquired by Greenstar UK in 2007, and then when Greenstar was bought by Biffa last year.

Edwards commented: "These moves are designed to keep Biffa's municipal business focused on delivering excellent service, being highly responsive to fast-changing customer needs, and maintaining the all-important close relationships with local council clients.

"With several new contract wins under our belt this year and a healthy new business pipeline, I want to be sure that we have the right knowledge and expertise in the right places. We may have a business servicing contracts worth well over £100 million, but never forget that our most immediate customers are the millions of householders that we service every week.

"The promotions of Dave and Simon are well-deserved, and they will help maintain our reputation for being close to our local authority clients so we can respond quickly, flexibly and effectively to their needs and changing priorities."
