Independent plastics recycler, Centriforce Products, has invested £1m in new manufacturing facilities to boost production by 50 percent at its six-acre Liverpool production centre
A fourth production line has been installed to expand manufacturing capacity for its 100 percent recycled Stokbord, all-purpose board in response to increased demand in construction, agricultural and retail markets. Production has already doubled in size over the past four years, which Centriforce believe is due to the fact they offer a durable and lower-cost alternative to traditional materials such as concrete or plywood, whilst providing an opportunity for users to demonstrate sound environmental policies.
More than 10,000 tonnes of HD/LDPE/PP plastic waste is currently processed annually at the site, recycling milk bottles, packaging films and carrier bags that would otherwise be destined for export or landfill.
"We have invested consistently in manufacturing facilities during the past decade and anticipate further significant growth during the next three to five years," said managing director Simon Carroll.
"Centriforce can make a significant contribution to the environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility policies of a broad range of organisations. We work to develop 'closed loop' schemes in which we deliver useful finished products back to our customers made from the waste they supply. We also have the capability to take back our products for onward re-use or recycling."
Stokbord is a general-purpose board in the UK with a diverse range of applications as a tough, durable, non-slip and hygienic alternative to plywood. Being easy to weld, rout and cut, it provides the base material for fabrication of a wide range of recycled products from advertising hoardings to stable liners.
Centriforce has recently been awarded ISO9001 and OHSAS 18001 quality and safety accreditations.
