The first iPhone app for waste collections has been launched by on-demand rubbish clearance specialists, AnyJunk, allowing users to video their junk and specifies when they want it collected. The app then automatically picks up their location through the iPhone's GPS and sends an email request to AnyJunk to quote for the clearance
AnyJunk's founder, Jason Mohr, who earlier this month appeared on BBC One's The Apprentice, said that with the proliferation of smartphones, it was a logical move to provide an app that makes it easier and more efficient for customers to communicate with AnyJunk to organise a clearance: "There's an app for just about everything nowadays, but this is the first app that gets your rubbish collected," said Mohr.
"The big attraction of the app is that it allows customers to get a much more precise quote without having to wait for a truck team to visit beforehand. An iPhone video is almost as good as being on site when it comes to quoting for a job," he continued.
The welcome screen offers a button to tap to video the junk to be removed; then comes a multi-choice screen for picking a convenient collection time (the more flexible the timing, the cheaper the service); the third screen requires the user to confirm the location of the rubbish (automatically taken from the phone's GPS); and the final screen runs a check on all the information inputted, allowing for amendments, before sending an email to AnyJunk to request a quote.
"Whether you're a householder, estate agent, contractor or office manager, no-one has an excuse for putting off getting that junk pile cleared now," said Mohr. "It's just a case of tapping an app and we'll come back with a precise quote right away."
AnyJunk has won awards for its customer service, use of technology, and eco-friendly disposal practices. The company operates throughout the UK, diverting from landfill almost 80 percent of everything it collects.
"We're dedicated to clearing up Britain in the greenest possible way, and the AnyJunk app makes it a whole lot quicker and easier for both us and our customers to achieve this aim," concluded Mohr.
