Teaser TextLast month’s health and safety at work fact sheet considered good practice and the key legislation needed to help promote safe working practices. This month’s fact sheet contains more on this theme, introducing overviews of confined spaces, equipment and lifting etc… all important topics with relation to working in waste and resource management. However, all of the areas covered by these fact sheets cannot be effectively implemented without good communications, monitoring of behaviour and reinforcement and review. Have a safe day! The HSE publishes Guidance both specific to particular industries and to particular processes.Following Guidance is not compulsory, but doing so will normally ensure an employer is doing enough to comply with the law. Approved Codes of Practice give practical examples of good practice and help in interpreting the Act. If an employer is prosecuted for a breach of health and safety law, and it is proved that they have not followed the relevant Codes of Practice the Court can find them at fault.
