Teaser TextSo what about the future of the municipal vehicles? Significantly this month, August 2010, marks not only the centenary of the CIWM journal, but also the 25th anniversary of the merger between the Dennis and Eagle brands. Where did Eagle Engineering come from? Geographically, from Warwick, but since the 1930s the company manufactured trailers, tippers and other transport-related products. But Eagle’s “municipal” credentials really come to the fore with the Compressmore in the late 1950s. This was a serious competitor to the Dennis Paxit, at a time when most councils were still using crude side-loaders, manual “barrier loaders” or the fore-and-aft/dual-tip/pendulum-style of bodies.
