Teaser TextThis month Helen Amos takes a more recent look back, to the beginning of the 21st Century The dawn of the year 2000 saw the global banking system in blind panic as it faced the prospect of the “millennium bug” and the end of the world as we knew it. But Tony Hirons looked to the future with confidence as he launched the first Wastes Management (as it was called before its latest name change) of the new century. In his comment, he looked forward to the “impending National Waste Strategy” that would force the industry to give serious thought to the type of facilities that would be needed and planning necessary to achieve the targets soon to be imposed on the industry.
