Electrolink agrees with Dr Morton (CIWM, July letters page) about the importance of eliminating illegal export of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and fully supports the extremely good work currently being undertaken by the environmental agencies. The need to improve current initiatives should not be overlooked and the key factors here are good public education on disposing of WEEE through the regulatory channels, effective systems, auditing by compliance schemes at the point of disposal and determined monitoring by regulators. |
