This course is an option for demonstrating operator competence for the purpose of operating a permitted waste and resources facility for "low risk tier" sites, e.g. inert waste transfer / treatment, in house storage, WEEE storage, or MRS (dry scrap - no free flowing liquid).
It can also be used by non-landfill facilities in the "medium risk tier" or "high risk tier" applying for a new permit, who wish to make use of a 12 month grace period to obtain the appropriate award. A copy of the risk tiers and further information on the scheme can be found in the booklet.
The course may also be of interest to those working on waste and resource management facilities who wish, for personal development, to have a greater understanding of the legislative implications of holding a permit.

The course is designed to encourage interpretation of situations within the context of permitting using a combination of presentations, discussions, case studies and group exercises.
A short assessment at the end of day two will ask questions relating to given scenarios. It will be designed to identify application of knowledge and information in the form of bullet pointed key information. It will not require the writing of essays etc. Assessments will be marked by the University of Northampton.
Delegates MUST PASS this assessment in order to obtain the certificate.
Cost of the two day course will be £800 +VAT (non residential).
