The transport and processing equipment used at recycling, recovery, reprocessing and disposal facilities has always been crucial in helping the industry to function effectively and is key in helping us move from a disposal culture to an integrated, resource efficient, society.
This award focuses on the innovative design and manufacturing aspects of all vehicles relating to wastes management and/or resource recovery assessing elements of health and safety, technology and the sustainability of material used in production.
Entrants will be measured against each of the following criteria and will articulate how they believe they have achieved successful outcomes in each of them:
Evidence of how the vehicle is fit for purpose
How has the entry made the best use of new or innovative technology?
How has the entry demonstrated sustainability in the use of materials involved in production?
How is the production process sustainable and what provision has been made for end of life recovery?
Previous winners and runners up have included Refuse Collection Vehicles, sweepers, chewing gum removal equipment and a tracked mobile crane.
