Sustainable Product Development of the Year
Product manufacturers are currently doing excellent work in improving the sustainability of their products, during manufacture, use and at the end of their life. Manufacturers are crucial in the move towards an environmentally sustainable culture and influencing consumers in relation to the products that they buy.
This award is to promote and celebrate excellence in the way any product has been designed or produced to impact sustainability in the UK. Applications should demonstrate how the product has impacted sustainability. Quantifiable results must be included and products must be readily available to their market and not in development stage.
Applications will be judged against the following criteria:
The materials used and production methods to enable energy and resource efficiency (including waste minimisation)
The sustainability of the product during its usable lifetime
The ease of re-use/ recovery/reduction of environmental impact at end of life of product
A reduction in production costs (and therefore retail price) of an environmentally sustainable product
