This award is intended to recognise the contribution of people or groups in encouraging public participation in managing resources, reducing or recycling waste or improving local environmental quality.
We are specifically looking for those who show leadership, imagination or innovation because they believe in a more sustainable lifestyle rather than having a direct commercial interest in it. They could be neighborhood recycling champions, composting gurus, inspirational teachers, energetic members of public bodies, community groups or members or an employee pushing recycling within your organisation.
Applications should provide a written submission up to 1000 words in length which should consider the following points:
Detail the activities carried out, outside of the applicant's role of employment.
Detail the outcomes and benefits of this work to the local community.
Consider how has the applicant(s) encouraged public participation in managing resources, reducing or recycling waste or improving the environmental quality of the local area?
Applications or nominations must include a written statement of no more than 1,000 words detailing how the Community Recycling Champion has improved their area of influence. This can include evidence from those they have influenced as well as the results of their efforts.
